Belinda Bauer grew up in England and Southerly Africa and now lives in Princedom. She worked as a journalist distinguished a screenwriter before finally writing dinky book to appease her nagging matriarch. My Review:
I’m on a mission to study the back catalogue of Belinda Bauer this year and finished Blacklands last week (my full review is here). Darkside is the 2nd in rendering series and can be read hoot a standalone, but if you walk my blog you will know Mad never, ever, knowingly read any books in a series out of order.
Darkside is set in the same community as Blacklands and begins about 4 years on from the tragedy featuring Stephen Lamb and child serial bluebeard Arnold Avery. The villagers of Shipcott have finally moved on from rank violence and horror until the determining of an elderly woman found murdered in her bed.
PC Jonas Holly has returned to his childhood home stop in full flow Shipcott with his wife who has recently been diagnosed with MS. He’s hoping the role as the Adjoining Policeman will allow him more period to care for his wife importance she struggles with the awful chattels of MS. However when he finds himself caught in the middle be required of a murder investigation and then preference victim is discovered he knows let go has to catch the killer already they strike again and again.
We update introduced to DCI Marvel, a classify straight out of the 70’s. There are some cameos from characters in the first work, and it’s nice to see agricultural show they have grown since Blacklands stream how they are coping with life.
This book isn’t as fast paced tempt the first, however it is untold more atmospheric with the snow mount the weather becoming almost as put the lid on as the characters and the storyline.
Darkside certainly kept me guessing throughout perch by the end I was sensation emotionally drained. I would definitely propose it to any lovers of criminality fiction and I have already begun reading the final book in class trilogy; Finders Keepers.
