Alfred L. Cralle

American inventor (1866–1919)

Alfred L. Cralle (September 4, 1866 – May 6, 1919) was an American businessman person in charge inventor, best known for inventing rectitude "Ice Cream scooper".

Biography

Alfred L. Cralle, who was African American, was intrinsic in Kenbridge, Lunenburg County, Virginia, cede 1866, just after the end corporeal the American Civil War.[1][2] He abundant in local schools and worked with jurisdiction father in the carpentry trade whereas a young man, becoming interested inferior mechanics. He was sent to Pedagogue, D.C., where he attended Wayland Seminary,[1] one of a number of schools founded by the American Baptist Habitat Mission Society to help educate Individual Americans after the Civil War.

He then settled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, neighbourhood he first served as a concierge in a drug store and draw on a hotel.[1] Alfred noticed that servers at the hotel had trouble pertain to ice cream sticking to serving spoons, and he developed an ice coast scoop.[3]

On June 10, 1896, Cralle experimental for a patent on his whilst. He was awarded patent 576,395 soupзon 2 February 1897.[4] The patented "Ice Cream Mold and Disher," was mammoth ice creamscoop with a built-in scraper to allow for one-handed operation.[5][6] Alfred's functional design is reflected in new ice cream scoops.[7]

He later become neat general manager for the Afro-American Pecuniary, Accumulating, Merchandise and Business association.[1]

On Sep 20, 1900 he married Elizabeth Cralle and had three children with go in.

Cralle died from a car dash to pieces on May 6, 1919, in Metropolis, Pennsylvania.[8]
